Standing In for Donald Trump

Donald Trump                      Dan Delventhal

I stood in for Donald Trump for one of his mattress commercials at the Trump Towers in NYC.

When casting sought a stand in for Donald Trump, they checked New York Castings and selected me from the photo shown above.

It was a fascinating adventure, and a bit of work, as I was dressed up in his classic Blue Jacket with Red tie, setting up the scene for the clients on the monitor and running lines, checking sound and lighting. He was in classic form, flirting with the beatiful young women on set and making sure the guys knew "he didn't care who They were"!

At one point he was marching down the hall as a King might in his the palace. As he approached, I engaged him with quick quip "Hey, nice job Don, er, I mean Donald!" and big smile. He seemed a bit startled and almost in disbelief that a subject might address the King without a queue. The other actors got a kick out of it, as there had been some other TV commercial with some similar Don vs. Donald banter going on and they thought I was playing off that. Standing in for commercials pays more than for film, which I didn't realize until later, so that was also a nice surprize.
